National Adoption Standards.

 
 

From 30 April 2003 the National Care Standards Commission (NCSC) will assume responsibility for the inspection of local authority adoption services and the inspection and registration of voluntary adoption agencies (VAAs) in England. In Wales this function will be the responsibility of the National Assembly for Wales (the Assembly).

There are 31 standards which are grouped under 11 headings.

1- Statement of Purpose
2- Securing and promoting children's welfare : Matching
3 to 6 - Propective and Approved Adopters
7 to 9 - Birth Families
10 to 13 - Adoption Panles and Agency Decisions
14 and 15 - Fitness to provide or manage an adoption agency
16 to 18 - Provision and Management of the adoption agency
19 to 24 - Employment and Management of Staff
25 to 28 - Records
29 - Fitness of Premises
30 and 31 - Financial Requirements
